1980: started into Business for my self (at time seemed like a good idea:) I soon  learned that in order to succeed  you have to throw away your watch and any prior idea you might have had re. the relationship of what the time spent and your bi weekly cheque should look like 🙂

Wish I had discovered that concept in my mid teens?

I also learned that I was a much better employer than I was an employee…

1981:  A wonderful son Jonathan Carney was born …

1984: A beautiful daughter Sarah Kathleen joined our family..

Over course of next 25 years I have been involved several business ventures…. Some good ones ……some I was left asking myself , what was I thinking!

Fortunately in business not unlike the law of gravity ,you only have to be right 51 % of the time to succeed and  you learn that when you do fall down,   try to  fall forward….:)

And the good news about being in your own business , is that you are the last person to get laid off 🙂

1991: Joined a partnership in a NS environmental company that grew into an Atlantic wide operation ….

2001: Marriage ended (not a fun time) but life happens..

2004: re met Dorothy Fowler a past love fr time spent in late 60s on the the Mirimichi… ( wasn’t always fishing salmon:).    We  married in 2010 ❤️

2009: Sold our environmental business to American company

2012:  Retired and moved from Halifax to Vancouver

2014:  Grandchildren Maggie and Ace came into the world?

20:16 Molly Yvonne makes number 3. ?

Since retirement we travel extensively , play golf and I play on a few different old timers hockey teams . I fish, hunt pheasants, deer and elk with my  son and have ridden our motorcycles through Rockies, Pacific Coast and into Alaska..

We are back in the Fredericton / Halifax area couple Mo’s a year since moving to the west and it always feels great to be there….

I wish I was able to be there to join in the reunion..  On Oct 15 I will hoist a glass from the west coast!  Good health and best wishes to everyone !

As ever,

Carney
